A Case of Hodgkin´s Disease of the Cecum

Abstract

|
A case of Hodgkin´s diease of the cecum in a 23 year old Korean male was experienced in the Dept. of Surgery, the 3rd Army Hospital, Pusan, Korea. An exploratory laparatomy showed a huge globular mass(20×13×7cm) in the wall of the cecum and ascending colon with infiltrative growth to the serosal surface. No metastatic lesions were noted in the liver, spleen and neighboring tissues of the cecum execpt regional lymphnodes. Radical right hemicolectomy and ileotransverse colostomy were performed. Histologically, the tumor mass was diagnosed as Hodgkin´s disease with its primary origin in the wall of the cecum. The majority of the malignant tumors of the large intestine are of the adenocarcinoma and less than 1% are of the sarcoma.
